Terms and Conditions
We ask you to take the time to read and understand the conditions of booking set out below prior to booking a trip with us. This will assist you to understand the itinerary, inclusions and what to expect on your holiday with Skillstourism Pty Ltd (trading as India Unravelled and hereafter referred to as Skillstourism). We are here to help ensure the best possible experience for you, so please contact us if you have any specific concerns or questions.
The person making the booking must be 18 years old or over and possess the legal capacity and authority to make the booking and accepts these booking conditions on behalf of everyone in their party.
The booking is made with Skillstourism Pty Ltd ABN 39 604 600 508.
By booking a trip you agree to the following booking terms and your booking will be accepted by us on these terms. Your booking confirmation invoice will outline the services included in your booking.
You are required to pay a deposit starting from AUD1500 per person depending on the trip you are taking. We ask that you pay the deposit within seven days of receiving your invoice confirming your place. The full amount is payable at the time of your booking if it is made within 90 days of the departure date. You will be notified at the time of booking should the deposit required be more than AUD1500 per person.
Booking and final payments
You will receive a confirmation invoice stating that your booking is confirmed. This will establish an agreement between you and Skillstourism Pty Ltd, which will be valid from the invoice date. Your booking confirmation will include details for final payment. Payment of the balance of the trip price is due 90 days before the departure date. We reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled if this balance is not paid on or before the due date. It is your responsibility to familiarise yourself with our booking terms and conditions and by paying your deposit, it is considered that you have read and understood the terms and conditions that govern your booking with Skillstourism.
Solo traveller with own room
Single accommodation is available on request subject to availability and is charged at a higher rate to twin share. The single rate is based on the extra costs incurred by Skillstourism for single room occupancy and is regrettably unavoidable. PLEASE NOTE that a person who is travelling alone and elects to share with another traveller will only be charged the twin share rate. If by the time full payment is due we are unable to match you up with another traveller, a single supplement will be payable.
Your personal information
All necessary details including full name as per passport; date of birth; nationality; passport number; passport issue and expiry date and any pre-existing medical conditions you have which may affect your ability to complete your travel arrangements are required. A booking form will be sent to you and we ask that you return it as soon as possible. We must receive it prior to final payment being made.
You will receive a form to complete to choose your experiences and/or day trips. We ask that you complete it and return to us as quickly as possible.
If you have to cancel
A cancellation will only be effective from when we receive a written request.
If you cancel your place on a trip:
- 90 days or more prior to departure, we will retain the deposit;
- Between 89 and 60 days prior to departure, we will retain 50% of the total booking cost
- 60 days or less prior to departure, we will retain 100% paid by you in connection with the booking.
The above cancellation fees are in addition to any fees which may be levied by accommodation providers, travel agents or third party trip and transport operator fees.
You are strongly advised to take out insurance that includes cancellation cover at the time of booking. If you leave your trip for any reason after commencement we are not obliged to make any refunds for unused services. If you fail to undertake the journey, join after departure, or leave it prior to its completion, no refund will be made.
If we have to cancel
We may cancel a trip at any time prior to departure if, due to terrorism, natural disasters, political instability or other external events it is not possible for us to operate as planned. Your safety is our utmost concern.
If we cancel your trip, you can transfer amounts paid to a different departure date or receive a full refund. In circumstances where the cancellation is due to external events outside our reasonable control refunds will be less any unrecoverable costs.
We are not responsible for any incidental expenses that you may incur as a result of your booking being cancelled.
If you need to change your booking
If you wish to transfer from one Skillstourism Pty Ltd to another or transfer your booking to a third party you must notify us at least 30 days prior to the proposed departure date. An administration fee of AUD200 per person will apply in addition to any charges levied by hotels, ground operators or airlines
If you notify us less than 29 days prior to the proposed departure date the refund policy applicable to cancellations will apply.
Transfers to a third party are only permitted where the transferee meets all the requirements in relation to the Skillstourism Pty Ltd, and transfers to another departure can only be made to a departure within the current validity period.
The cost of your trip includes:
(as per your itinerary)
- all accommodation
- all meals
- all transport
- sightseeing and entry fee
- the services of a group leader
The cost of your trip does not include:
- international flights
- airport taxes and excess baggage charges
- meals other than those specified
- visa and passport fees
- travel insurance
- optional activities and all personal expenses
Prices & currency fluctuations
Our trip prices are subject to variable costs and seasonal pricing. These are standard practice within the travel industry due to the many variable costs and currency fluctuations that affect our ability to provide our services at a fixed cost. Therefore our trip prices may vary at any time in accordance with demand, market conditions and availability. The most up to date pricing is available on our website. Prices are based on currency exchange rates as of August 2019.
We reserve the right to impose surcharges up to 60 days before departure due to unfavourable changes in exchange rates, transportation costs, increases in local operator costs, taxes. or if government action should require us to do so. If any surcharge results in an increase of more than 15% of the trip price you may cancel the booking within 14 days of notification of the surcharge and obtain a full refund. We will not surcharge any booking for travel within the validity period if the booking has been paid in full. Please note that all payments made by credit card will be subject to a surcharge.
Age restrictions and ability to participate in our trips
The minimum age is 18 at the time of travel. All persons under the age of 18 must travel with an adult of 18 plus years. For family travel, we are open to discussing your holiday on a case by case basis in the event you have children under the age of 18 years.
We have no upper age limit though we ask you to consider your personal health and fitness to undertake one of our trips. Please be aware that India can be physically demanding (e.g. uneven footpaths, crowded public spaces) and passengers must ensure that they are suitably fit to allow full participation. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you would like to discuss any particular concerns you may have.
It is your responsibility to ensure that you obtain proper and detailed medical advice at least two months prior to travel for the latest health requirements and recommendations for travelling to India, including information relating to vaccinations. Where you do not do so and are either not allowed to enter any country or suffer personal injury as a result, we have no liability to you for any loss or damage which you suffer.
Minimum number of travellers required to operate
Our trips run for a minimum of six or a small group of up to 12 people. Prices are based on fully booked trips and will be reviewed should we not meet our numbers on any given departure. Some specialised departures are for groups of no more than eight. On occasion, we have run a trip for one person and we are happy to consider this if you are a solo traveller, or our trip dates are not suitable for you. Please get in touch to discuss options with us.
Skillstourism reserves the right to cancel a trip if the minimum participant requirement is not met. Under such circumstances we will refund all payments may by you. Skillstourism is not liable for any other incidental costs paid by you, including but not limited to; non-refundable flight tickets, visas, travel insurance, vaccinations and purchases.
Passport and visas
It is your responsibility to ensure that you are in possession of a valid passport with the correct visa for travel to India. We are not responsible if you are refused entry because you lack the correct travel documentation. Your passport must be valid for six months beyond the duration of the trip or your return date to your country of residence.
Travel insurance is compulsory for all our travellers and we recommend taking it at the time of booking. Your travel insurance must provide cover against personal accident, death, medical expenses and emergency repatriation with a recommended minimum coverage of $200,000 for each category. We also strongly recommend it covers cancellation, personal liability and loss of luggage and personal effects.
You must provide proof of your travel insurance no less than 30 days prior to travel including policy provider, policy number and the emergency contact information prior to your arrival in India.
The itinerary provided for each trip is an indication of the types of activities we aim to provide, but it is understood that the route, schedules, itineraries, accommodation, amenities and mode of transport may be subject to alteration without prior notice due to local circumstances or events.
You appreciate and acknowledge that travelling in India requires a considerable level of flexibility. We ask that you bring along your sense of adventure and let us take care of any necessary changes required during your trip.
While you are with us in India
We personally run our trips and act as your host in India. In our absence, our trips are run by a group leader. The decision of the group leader is final on all matters likely to affect the safety or well-being of any person participating in the trip. If you fail to comply with a decision made by a group leader or interfere with the well-being or safety of the group, the group leader may direct you to leave the trip immediately, with no right to a refund. You must at all times comply with the laws, customs, foreign exchange and drug regulations of India. You also agree to travel in accordance with our responsible travel guidelines.
Acceptance of risk and safety
It is your responsibility to acquaint yourself with all possible relevant travel information regarding your destination and your itinerary; the craft/s you have chosen to learn, or extra activities you have chosen to undertake. You acknowledge that your decision to travel is made in light of consideration of this information and you accept that you are aware of any personal risk. You agree to comply with our safety standards within the workshops including wearing closed in shoes, safety glasses where needed and other safety requirements as outlined by Skillstourism Pty Ltd or any artisan providing tuition on our behalf.
Limitation of liability
We have an agreement with a network of companies, government agencies and individuals to assist in the running of our trips as agent for these third parties. We are not responsible for the acts and omissions of these third parties.
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- any liability for any loss, death, injury or damage which you may suffer (directly or indirectly) in connection with or arising out of your participation in a trip, or any breach of the Booking Conditions, is excluded;
- you release us and our officers, employees, agents and representatives from any liability and expressly waive any claims you may have against us arising out of or in connection with your participation in a trip; and
- any condition or warranty which would otherwise be implied by law into these Booking Conditions (Implied Warranty), is excluded.
To the extent an Implied Warranty cannot be excluded, our liability in respect of the Implied Warranty is limited to (in our absolute discretion): (i) the provision of a similar trip to an equivalent value; or (ii) a refund of the total amount received by us from you in connection with your booking.
Any claim by you is excluded to the extent that it is for indirect or consequential loss, loss of profits or economic loss, however it arises, or for indirect, special, punitive or exemplary damages.
If you have a complaint about your trip please inform your group leader or our local representative at the time in order that they can attempt to rectify the matter there and then. Our goal is to ensure that you have an amazing trip from start to finish, so please let us know right away if something is causing you concern. If satisfaction is not reached through these means then any further complaint should be put in writing to us within 30 days of the end of the trip.
Use of photos, videos and testimonials
You consent to Skillstourism Pty Ltd using any images or footage taken during the trip for advertising and promotional purposes. You permit us an unlimited, royalty-free, worldwide, binding authority to use such images for publicity and promotional purposes. You also grant us permission to use any testimonials that you share with us on our website for the benefit of our future customers.
The laws of Victoria, Australia govern these Booking Conditions to the fullest extent allowable. Any disputes in connection with a product or these Booking Conditions must be initiated in the courts of Victoria, Australia.

Updating of terms and conditions
Skillstourism Pty Ltd reserves the right to update and/or alter these terms and conditions at any time, and it is the customer’s responsibility to be familiar with them. The latest terms and conditions can be found on www.indiaunravelled.com.au and will supersede any previous versions.
