Postcards from IndiaUnravelled ❤️🇮🇳Dur Postcards from IndiaUnravelled ❤️🇮🇳During our recent travels in Kerala our driver Mohandas was more like a guide than a driver. He took such pleasure in explaining all sorts of interesting things to us. This time it was a rubber plantation. They tap the trees to collect the rubber and then it is processed into sheets for on selling to make tyres, shoe soles etc depending on the quality.***slow immersive travel

Postcards from IndiaUnravelled ❤️🇮🇳One Postcards from IndiaUnravelled ❤️🇮🇳One of the things we love the most are the traditional handicrafts of India. My personal favourite is block printing. Beautiful hand carved teak blocks are used with natural dyes to print the most stunning fabrics. Patterns are often overlayed with different colours 😍A block printing workshop at Tharangini Studios is a always a favourite with our guests. Padmini and her team guide us as we learn about the natural dye making process and explore hundreds of blocks to create our own designs. Too much fun! ❤️***slow immersive travel

Postcards from India ❤️🇮🇳The number on Postcards from India ❤️🇮🇳The number one thing we hear from our guests at the end of each trip is how much they loved meeting the people ❤️❤️❤️This amazing woman is from Kerala. She weaves dried palm fronds to make beautiful mats. It was school holidays and all her grandchildren were at home, playing outside inspite of the summer heat. She had an aura of serenity about her and the most beautiful, warm smile.*slow, immersive travel

🌈🌈🌈 Happy new year 🌈🌈🌈Today ou 🌈🌈🌈 Happy new year 🌈🌈🌈Today our friends in India are celebrating the Ugadi Festival. How I wish we were there with you ✨✨✨🌟🌟🌟✨✨✨I miss the days leading up to a festival. Seeing the markets overflowing with people gathering up the necessary things to decorate their homes. On the day of the festival, going for an early morning walk and seeing women drawing beautiful, colourful rangoli on the freshly cleaned path outside their homes. Later in the day we would go out for a drive around town with Srinivas, my favourite auto-rickshaw driver and seeing people dressed in new clothes going to the temples to make offerings. It is on these special days that I miss India the most. The name Yugadi or Ugadi comes from the Sanskrit words yuga (age) and ādi (beginning) meaning "the beginning of a new age".Today pacchadi, a festive dish is prepared to symbolically remind us that the year ahead, as all of life, will consist of not just sweet experiences, but a combination of sweet, sour, salty, and bitter times.Just as these substances are bound together to make one dish, we are reminded that no event or episode is all good or bad. Even in the midst of bitter experiences, there are sweet moments 💖What a beautiful philosophy.Today my wish is that by next Ugadi we will be home in India to celebrate with you 💖💖💖~Catherine x
Happy Republic Day to all our friends in India 🇮🇳🇮🇳🇮🇳This quote from Sadhguru says so much of what I feel. India is a great nation with a culture so vibrant and rich. It can't help but touch the hearts of anyone who has been blessed to travel to your beautiful country.Namaste 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Happy Sankranti to all our friends in India 🇮🇳A few pics from last year with my auto driver Srinivas whom I miss so much. Not great pics, but you get the mood right?!Dancers dressed as Gods and a street lined with over 100,000 deepas (oil lamps) leading up to the temple.Getting in amongst it to help the locals light them all at once was amazing!Oh India, we miss you so much it hurts.Namaste 🙏🏻
